What's Your Point ?

Another Viewpoint ?

We went to the Town Meeting on December 12, and we just don't understand what it was about.

We went to an opposition meeting, we visited the web site and we read the flyers. I would have been the first one to sign the petition and help get them signed, but the rest of us just couldn't make a decision. We wondered why the opposition was afraid to let all the facts be known.

Some of you believed we wanted the law changed and we were trying to put the Landfill facility in. That is not true. What we wanted was for the whole town to be involved and hear all the facts and make a decision.

The opposition hurt a lot of people because that is what it has to do to get a job done. It has to keep all the facts from being heard and tell you what it wants you to believe. This is OK for another country but not here.

The rest of us heard the opposition, heard Mr Gerhard, and got our own facts. We checked with NYS DEC and found out these facilities are safe. We found out why the opposition didn't want you to learn all the facts and that is because if you found out what we did, you wouldn't have been standing with us wanting to get the whole town involved.

Nobody should be offended because we wanted all the facts to be known. Have sewers and water for the whole town, and lower our taxes.

What we did was hear all the facts about the facility before coming to the decision that it would have benefited the town as a whole. We would never have stopped anyone from hearing all there was to know and making his or her own decision. This is what our country is about, Freedom of choice, not telling you what you must believe and that is that.

I want to thank all the people who came to the Town Meetings and stood up for what they believed in and all the people who didn't sign the petitions because they didn't know all the facts.
